DIY stores have an extremely large range - often with well over 70,000 different products! So if you go there, you can be pretty sure that you'll find the product you're looking for. The most frequently asked question in the kilometre-long aisles is probably: ‘Where can I find it?’. Self-explanatory, orientating packaging is extremely important to maintain an overview of the breadth and depth of the product range. And this is exactly where we started when we were asked to develop a strong private label!
The idea: the visual anchor
Motorway road signs fulfil one major requirement: maximum legibility that can be grasped in a matter of seconds. This is exactly what inspired us for the new, innovative cross-product and cross-range packaging design! Colour, font and shape design guarantee lightning-fast orientation and simple information transfer. The design forms the visual anchor on the shelves and quickly brings customers and products together.
Conceptually, we think so deeply into each of the 14,000 toom own-brand products that the packaging offers additional added value, empowers the customer and also works without personal advice. This is what makes the toom private label the strength of toom Baumarkt!
For 14 years, we have been developing packaging and communication for six other own brands for toom Baumarkt in addition to the main own brand - from entry-level prices to the professional brand.

The form is the centrepiece of the new packaging design. All important information is summarised and clearly integrated in this rectangle. Reduced to the essentials, with a clear design. Quick and informative. A uniform layout with an additional colour code creates a harmonious overall look on the shelf and throughout the DIY store.

Within a few years of launching the toom own brand, toom Baumarkt succeeded in significantly improving sales and returns. And also to grow against the industry trend! toom has now been a regular fixture in the German DIY store charts for many years and is consistently one of the most popular. Of course, toom's own brand has played a large part in this success story.
